Textbook costs have soared over the last several decades. OhioLINK has pulled together a number of resources to help out with affordable learning, especially in the areas of Open Educational Resources.
"Affordable Learning Ohio is OhioLINK's series of initiatives to lower the cost of college for Ohio higher education students by assisting our member libraries and campuses in identifying strategies for Open and Affordable Learning textbook and course material adoption, and helping locate statewide shareable library materials as well as open educational resources that are no cost or lower cost to students."
OhioLINK provides OER Course Redesign Mini-Grants for faculty interested in utilizing OER in one of their courses. Faculty receive a $650 stipend, consult with an OhioLINK OER librarian to discover OER materials for their course, and participate in an asynchronous Introduction to Open Educational Resources Course online. Applications typically open in mid-September (fall) and mid-March (spring).
