    • The oldest general-interest monthly in America, explores the issues that drive our national conversation, through long-form narrative journalism and essays, and such celebrated features as the iconic Harper’s Index. During its golden age from 1936 to 1972, Life was a wide-ranging weekly general interest magazine known for the quality of its photography. Life was a general-interest and light entertainment magazine, heavy on illustrations, jokes, and social commentary.

  • Look Magazine -- we have 1964-1967 in periodicals. It was a biweekly, general-interest magazine published in Des Moines, Iowa, from 1937 to 1971, with more of an emphasis on photographs than articles. It was a direct competitor to Life.

  • Newsweek -- we have 1937-2012 in periodicals.

  • Saturday Evening Post -- we have 1972-2006 in periodicals. For years 1904-1956 and 1960-1967, you will need to place a storage retrieval request

    • American magazine issued weekly under this title from 1897 until 1963, then every two weeks until 1969. From the 1920s to the 1960s, it was one of the most widely circulated and influential magazines within the American middle class, with fiction, non-fiction, cartoons and features that reached millions of homes every week.

  • Time Magazine -- we have 1924-1979 and 1987 to present

    • Time magazine was first published based in New York City making it the first weekly news magazine in the United States. The founders first called the proposed magazine Facts. They wanted to emphasize brevity, so that a busy man could read it in an hour. They changed the name to Time and used the slogan "Take Time – It's Brief". Time was important, but also fun, which accounted for its heavy coverage of celebrities and politicians, the entertainment industry and pop culture.
